The West Columbia Police Officer’s Foundation was established in 2009. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office. The purpose of the foundation is to provide support to the men and women of the West Columbia Police Department. The Foundation has been active in fulfilling it’s mission. In the first year of operation, the foundation provided financial assistance to an officer who lost everything in a house fire, assisted three employees who were severely impacted by cancer, and presented a plaque to the family of a former officer who died in the line of duty in Oconee County. Additionally, the foundation has funded training scholarships for the Civilian and Law Enforcement Employees of the Year and funded door prizes for the Annual Police Department Banquet. The Foundation is also actively involved in the “Fan the Heat” program. Funds raised are used to provide fans to residents who need assistance during the summer months due to sweltering heat. Priority is given to those with special needs such as the elderly, ill, and those with small children. |
